Become A Direct Support Professional
Direct Support Professionals provide a variety of care and support services to the individuals we support those who live in their own homes.
Services provided by DSP include but are not limited to assistance with household tasks, laundry, bathing and personal hygiene care, medication administration, meal planning and preparation, assistance with eating, and transportation to and from medical appointments and community events.

Requirements:

  • 18 and over
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Safe operating vehicle
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
  • Proof of valid auto insurance
  • Safely lift up to 50 lbs. or more
  • Be able to carry, push, pull, bend, transfer, stoop, and walk safely
  • State and/or federal background check (BCII/FBI)

Shared Living Provider
Become A Shared Living Provider
Shared Living Providers commit to sharing their homes, supporting individuals with daily routines, and being part of their families. Shared Living Providers also provide respite care for temporary needs or emergencies.

Direct Support Assistant (16-17 years old)
Supervises: Not Applicable
Supervisor: On-Shift Direct Service Professional; Program Specialist
Qualifications: Work Permit, valid Identification, ability to read and write, good listening skills, and ability to understand and follow direction.
Conditions

  • Direct support assistants shall only work when another employee, who is at least eighteen years of age and meets the requirements of Ohio Adm. Code 5123-2-08 or Ohio Adm. Code 5123:2-3-01, is physically present at the service location.
  • Direct support assistants shall undergo a background investigation for employment in accordance with O.A.C. 5123-2-02.
  • Direct support assistants shall not provide intimate personal care such as dressing, showering, bathing, toileting, or changing undergarments.
  • Direct support assistants shall not transport individuals in a vehicle.
  • Direct support assistants shall not administer medication or perform health-related activities.
  • Direct support assistants shall not perform any care or task expressly forbidden by the individual.
  • The agency/licensed facility must obtain consent for services to be provided by a direct support assistant.
  • Direct support assistants must meet the training requirements found in O.A.C. 5123-2-08 Appendix C or O.A.C. 5123:2-3-01 (F) (1) (e-g).

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform limited duties, with prior consent from individual with DD or guardian, to individuals with physical and intellectual differences.
  • Provide companionship services.
  • Understand and incorporate in providing service to individuals empathy-based care.
  • Implement the service plan and service outcome within the limit of Direct Support Assistant.
  • Recognize and report major unusual incidents and unusual incidents.
  • Understand and follow Universal Precautions for infection control.
  • Understand and follow the components of quality care including but limited to health and safety, culture, effective communication, person-centered philosophy, positive supports, etc.
  • Maintain confidentiality of client files, sensitive information, and does not have the authority to release information regarding client without consent or authority.
  • Have the skills and abilities to understand the mission, vision, and values of M.E.R.G.E Cincinnati LLP.
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying to rules and regulations.
  • Maintains professional and technical quality by attending required staff and in-service trainings.
  • Document progress on data sheets as it pertains to services provided as a Direct Support Assistance.
  • REQUIREMENTS
    Experience: Mandatory trainings prior to first scheduled shift
    Education: Currently attending high school or equivalent
    License and Certification: CPR/First Aid Certification
    Weekly Hours: Vary up to 5 hours per day on scheduled days to work
    Benefits: Gain experience in the field of DD and gratification

Home Health Aide
Become a Home Health Aide

Home Health Aides provide essential care and support services to individuals living in their own homes. Services provided by Home Health Aides include but are not limited to, assistance with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, and meal preparation. They also offer companionship, medication reminders, monitoring clients’ health status, and reporting any changes to the healthcare team.
